All mothers know the sound of a crying baby. It can feel overwhelming and frustrating when you don't know how to stop your child from crying. But there are many ways to comfort and help a crying child calm down.
How to Comfort a Crying Child
Let's look at some tips for comforting a crying baby.
Find the Crying Cause
You will first need to determine if the child is in physical discomfort that could be causing the tears. A dirty diaper, too cold or too warm clothes, hunger, pain, tiredness, itch, etc., could make your child uncomfortable and cause them to cry.
The first step in helping a child stop crying is to identify the underlying cause. Try talking to the child and asking them what is wrong. This will help you understand the root cause of the crying and allow you to address it better.
Eliminating the cause of discomfort can immediately soothe the child.
Responding with Comfort
Once you have identified the cause, respond with comfort. This can be a hug, gentle touch, or listening ear. You must talk softly and encourage your child to speak about the issue rather than cry.
If the child is unable to communicate why they are crying, use the following measures:
Distraction
If you cannot find the solution, try distracting your little one with music or toys. You could also read stories together or play games like peek-a-boo or patty-cake. Distractions can help take their mind off whatever bothered them before they started crying.
Cuddles
Sometimes all babies need is some extra love and affection from their mommy. Cuddle up with your little one on the couch or in their bed, talk softly, sing lullabies, and stroke their hair until they calm down enough for you to understand what has made them so upset in the first place.
Find Long Term Solutions
It is important to find long-term solutions to help prevent the child from crying in the future. This could involve changing their routine or introducing more structured activities throughout the day. You can also teach them coping skills such as deep breathing and positive self-talk. Finding a solution that works for your child will help them stop crying for good.
Conclusion
Caring for a baby can be challenging, but comforting a crying one doesn't have to be an impossible task. Once you understand a child, it becomes easier to understand what makes them cry.
Ok...
So all the things mentioned above are what you usually find online. Really, being a mommy of three kids, I know what it feels like to be a mommy when your baby is crying.
Here are the odd reasons I find why my kids cry sometimes. I am sometimes writing here because I am a successful mom in the sense my babies don't show tantrums.
Odd Reasons Why My Kids Cry and How I Deal with Them
They see someone else crying in school: Yes, they cry when other children in the class cry. And no, they don't cry at school; they cry at home. And when the reason is asked, they will say that another student was crying in the class.
And I start to pretend to cry too. I say that some lady in the video I watched was crying, and in confusion, they stop crying.
They feel like crying: The one best reason to cry is that there is no reason to cry. When you have nothing to do, why not cry!
I make them busy and distract them with something.
They are hungry without even realizing it: It makes me love them even more. When they are hungry, they don't even have a clue that they want to eat and start crying about everything. Their hunger makes the little complaining machines. I just give them something to munch on and Voila! All cry is gone.
My Trump Card
When nothing works, I use my Parent Card!
I just tell them we won't go to granny's house or play area, and then and there, they stop nagging.
I have allowed them to cry for two things only:
